Danka has been exhibiting more than 20 years at the Rock institute, Cornwall. Over the years she has become well known for her vibrant pastel paintings of locally caught Cornish fish, platters of brightly coloured vegetables and beautiful homegrown spring and summer flowers.
Danka sources her fish from the local harbour village of Port Isaac and takes advantage of the abundant Atlantic ocean. Fish included in her incredible paintings are Cornish mackerel, crab, sprats, lobsters (blue and red), scallops and sometimes a beautiful John Dory takes pride of place. She arranges her subjects expertly on large platters, or bags from the fishmonger to give them an authentic Cornish representation of the gifts from the coastline here.
Danka also enjoys painting other foodie delights, such as bright citrus fruits, Italian artichokes and pale asparagus, just to name a few. A keen gardener, Danka grows many varieties of flowers in her North Cornwall garden, spoilt with choice she chooses her favourite to draw and many make the walls of the Rock institute for her summer exhibition.
To compliment her exquisite paintings Danka has been continually developing her range of decorated blue & white bone china which boasts beautiful fish designs. There is a range of mugs, bowls, large plates, platters, fish pie dishes and many one-off pieces. All the designs are Danka’s own and are in huge demand.
